5 Days Uganda Big Five Safari

Tour Overview

The 5 Days Uganda Big Five Safari is a classic wildlife journey designed to give travelers the best chance of seeing Africa’s Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—within a compact time frame. The safari combines savannah game drives, river cruises, forest experiences, and guided rhino tracking across some of Uganda’s most rewarding protected areas, offering a well-balanced and memorable wildlife adventure.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with Rhino Tracking

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe, driving northwest toward Murchison Falls National Park. En route, you stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience on foot, completing the rhino component of the Big Five. After lunch, you continue to the park and later visit the top of the mighty Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging powerfully below. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive and Nile Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you head out for a morning game drive on the northern bank of Murchison Falls National Park, the prime wildlife-viewing area. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and predators such as lions and leopards. After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile toward the base of the falls, where hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and numerous bird species are commonly seen along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Following breakfast, you depart Murchison Falls and drive south through scenic countryside toward Kibale Forest National Park. The journey passes tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural communities, with lunch en route. You arrive in the Kibale area in the late afternoon, check in to your lodge, and relax for the evening surrounded by lush tropical forest.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, you drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife reserves. Upon arrival, you check in to your lodge and have lunch before heading out for an evening game drive. This park is well known for its large herds of elephants and buffaloes, as well as lions and leopards that roam the savannah plains. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Return Transfer

Your final day starts with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, increasing your chances of spotting predators before they retreat from the heat of the day. You then enjoy breakfast and begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, with lunch en route. Arrival is in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your 5 Days Uganda Big Five Safari.
