Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe, driving southwest toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes approximately 8–9 hours and passes through Uganda’s scenic countryside, with a stop at the Equator crossing and lunch en route. Arrive in the Bwindi region in the evening, check in to your lodge, and relax as you prepare for gorilla trekking the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi’s dense rainforest. The trek may take between 2 and 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, you spend one unforgettable hour observing the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch, then drive south to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in the Virunga Volcanoes region. The drive takes approximately 3–4 hours. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in to your lodge, and enjoy a relaxed evening.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Following an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting golden monkey tracking. You hike through bamboo forests on the lower slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes in search of these playful and endangered primates. The experience is generally less strenuous than gorilla trekking and offers excellent photography opportunities.
After the activity, return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Optional activities include a Batwa cultural experience or a guided nature walk.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali or Entebbe for Outbound Flight
After breakfast, begin your return transfer. You can either drive to Kigali (approximately 4–5 hours), which is the most convenient option, or return to Entebbe (approximately 8–9 hours) for your outbound flight. Arrive in time for your departure, marking the end of your safari experience.
