Day 1: Departure from Kigali and Arrival in Bwindi

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Kigali. The scenic drive to Bwindi takes you through picturesque hills, charming villages, and the border into Uganda, offering glimpses of rural East African life along the way. You will arrive at your lodge near Bwindi in the late afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy dinner while soaking in the forest views. Depending on the time of arrival, you may have a brief nature walk around the lodge, giving you a taste of the lush rainforest and its smaller wildlife. The evening is spent resting in preparation for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the experienced guides. The guides provide instructions on safety, rules for interacting with gorillas, and tips for photography. The trek through Bwindi’s dense rainforest can take several hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location, but the moment you come face-to-face with a mountain gorilla, every step is worth it. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then begin the journey back to Kigali. The drive offers a scenic route back through rolling hills and traditional communities, concluding your 2-day safari in the late evening with memories of a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter.
