Tour Overview

The 2 Days Gorilla Safari in Uganda is a short yet deeply rewarding journey designed for travelers who want to experience mountain gorilla trekking without committing to a long holiday. This safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO-listed rainforest that shelters a large population of endangered mountain gorillas. The tour combines scenic drives, comfortable lodge stays, and one unforgettable hour spent with a habituated gorilla family in their natural habitat.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the first day, you are picked up early from Kampala or Entebbe and begin the journey southwest toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive passes through rolling countryside, local towns, and lush farmlands, with a stop at the Equator crossing for photography and refreshments. Lunch is taken en route before continuing through the highlands of southwestern Uganda. You arrive in the Bwindi area in the late afternoon, check in to your lodge, and spend the evening relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return Transfer

After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You are assigned a gorilla family and guided into the dense forest. The trek can last between one and four hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once located, you are allowed one hour to observe them as they feed, rest, and interact. After the trek, you return to the park headquarters for your trekking certificate, enjoy lunch, and then begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening.

Gorilla Trekking Experience

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi is both physically engaging and emotionally powerful. The steep trails, thick vegetation, and forest terrain add to the sense of adventure, while the close encounter with mountain gorillas offers a rare insight into their social behavior and daily life. This experience is often described as one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in Africa.
