Day 1: Transfer to Akagera and Evening Game Drive
The safari begins with an early morning departure from Kigali, heading east toward Akagera National Park. The drive passes scenic farmland, rolling hills, and small rural communities, with a stop for refreshments and photographs. Upon arrival at the park, you check in to your lodge before embarking on an evening game drive. The drive offers the first chance to spot elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and various bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Boat Ride, and Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you set out for a morning game drive to see the park’s wildlife in the cool hours when animals are most active. Following the drive, you enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Ihema, home to hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. The boat cruise provides excellent photo opportunities and a chance to appreciate the park’s wetland ecosystems.
